About Vitalii

Vitalii runs a WordPress and web development practice, billing around $29 an hour, and he doesn't only rely on Upwork: his team also does outreach, LinkedIn, SEO, and referrals. He knows his channels. He's the kind of operator who asks for CRM webhooks, reporting automation, and an MCP server to tune his pipeline with Claude. The craft and the business sense were already there. The question was how to keep the top of the funnel full without turning bidding into a full-time job.

The problem

Winning on Upwork rewards showing up early and consistently across a high volume of relevant postings. For a small team already splitting time across outreach, LinkedIn, SEO, and delivery, that volume is the part you can't scale by hand.

It got harder mid-stream. When Upwork changed how specialized profiles worked, Vitalii felt it immediately in his numbers. The old playbook stopped returning what it used to, and he needed a way to keep sending quality proposals at volume without losing ground.

The solution

Earlybird handled the top of the funnel. It detected relevant gigs, 1,110 in the period, filtered them against Vitalii's niche using AI rather than brittle keyword lists, and sent proposals in his voice within minutes of a posting. As the platform shifted, the filters were retuned together: a $30/hr minimum floor, experience-level filters switched off so mis-tagged jobs weren't wrongly excluded, and longer, tailored cover letters. It went further than bidding. Vitalii set up A/B tests across five proposal variations to find what landed, and cloned a working bidder across team members so more than one seat could run the same tuned setup.

The results

From February 1st to February 28th, Earlybird sent 217 proposals for Vitalii against roughly $963 in Upwork connects. Those proposals returned 22 replies at a 10.1% reply rate, and 5 booked meetings. That pipeline converted into 5 WordPress projects and $13,338+ earned, a return of well over 13x on the connects spend, in the first month.
